Why glass shape matters
RIEDEL describes varietal-specific glasses as tailoring bowl shape, size and rim diameter to a wine. These are manufacturer claims, not an independent scientific result from Pair It & Share It.
Bowl capacity and rim diameter are measurements, not tasting scores. We do not calculate aroma concentration from those dimensions or promise a sensory improvement. A wide-looking silhouette is not evidence that a glass suits a grape.
Manufacturers can recommend different approaches: Glasvin calls its Universal all-purpose, while RIEDEL distinguishes wine-friendly from varietal-specific designs. We retain each maker’s claim rather than declaring one universal winner. A specific Sangiovese disagreement is not asserted without verified product-level sources.
